The Tagman Press aims to publish between ten and twenty new titles this year and we receive manuscripts most days. Because of the way the book trade works, it takes six months to a year for a publisher (who is just one part of the chain) to bring a new title to market, from saturating the media channels with advance information to combing the manuscript for errors, to resourcing a launch which will make an impact on the market. Each member of the team reads a vast amount of work in order to find the few titles they have the capacity to run with each year.
While we would dearly love to be in a position to write detailed feedback on each submission, it would come at a cost to those authors we do decide to work with. We are not critics, we are a business and we need to be sure we can make a return on the investment we make in each author.
The Tagman team urges any author whose manuscripts we choose not to publish, to persevere.
Should any author wish to grasp the nettle and publish their work independently, we provide services to make this possible.
